Background

British Heart Foundation is a charity organisation in the United Kingdom. It is a major funder and authority in cardiovascular research, education, and care, and relies predominantly on voluntary donations to meet its aims. It funds research to beat heartbreak from heart and circulatory diseases and their risk factors and raises money to research cures and treatments.

 

Challenge

Since 1964 the British Heart Foundation has awarded research grants of £1.6 billion to find cures and treatments for heart and circulatory diseases. To continue driving critical cardiovascular research, the organisation aims to provide grants of up to £100 million each year.

To better manage donations and fund-raising opportunities - and to continue to drive efficiency within the British Heart Foundation to reach this goal – digital improvements are key.  

By deploying a new retail management systems programme (RMSP) to deliver complete data visibility across its charity stores, British Heart Foundation aimed to make serving clients a highly efficient and streamlined process, even at peak times. A major project to manage and integrate, however, it required additional testing resource.

 

Solution

With a test manager who had worked with Sparta Global in the past now working at British Heart Foundation, our Spartans came highly recommended.     

Though initially approaching Sparta Global to help provide testing talent, British Heart Foundation was also keen to give young graduates an opportunity to thrive in IT, gain industry experience and develop a knowledge of the charity sector.

A number of Spartans have since joined the charity on site in London and played an important role in the roll-out of the British Heart Foundation’s retail management systems programme. Our Spartans quickly gained an in-depth knowledge of how the new solution would be deployed across the organisation and how it would impact British Heart Foundation stores - providing rapid growth across the business and significantly changing business functions.

In addition to testing the RMSP for bugs, our Spartans have also worked on the charity’s new ERP solution – Microsoft Dynamics 2012 – to ensure its quality and make the transition from legacy systems to more current day solutions as seamless as possible.
