Sparta Global & NatWest
NatWest Group partners with Sparta Global to secure technology talent from diverse backgrounds and support the continued growth of its One Bank Mortgages (OBM) platform.
“The process of onboarding talent was really quite easy. The hard work had been done by Sparta Global, even before they hit the ground working with us. Spartans have been through the training period with Sparta and they have these skills that are there and ready to be developed. The hard work had already been done before they even got here.”
In an era defined by rapid technological evolution, NatWest has been investing heavily in digital transformation, cloud technologies and AI/ML. To streamline its internal operations and elevate the customer experience, the UK-focused banking giant recognised a critical strategic need: the integration of emerging, early-career talent into its core digital teams. Aligned with its forward-thinking “Digital X” initiative, NatWest sought to pipeline professionals for the future, retain valuable intellectual property, and inject fresh, diverse perspectives into the organisation with the support of Sparta Global.
A bespoke approach
Sparta Global designed and delivered a bespoke training curriculum tailored specifically to NatWest’s technical ecosystem. By blending modules from its established DevOps, Testing, and Java Engineering courses, Sparta Global cultivated versatile consultants capable of contributing across multiple disciplines from day one.
The partnership was also highly strategic in its geographic reach. Recruitment was focused heavily around London, Manchester, and Edinburgh, ensuring that talent was sourced in close proximity to NatWest’s major operational hubs. This regional approach supported both localised efficiency and geographic diversity.
To ensure a seamless transition into the bank’s active workflows, NatWest’s line managers were introduced to their respective “Spartans” during the training phase, allowing them to build rapport and align expectations before formal deployment. Once consultants were on-site, Sparta Global maintained an active, supportive presence over the two-year engagement, utilising monthly and quarterly check-ins to closely monitor performance and consultant satisfaction.
