Sparta Global helps FCDO build bespoke AI agents
At the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), bespoke Copilot agents are being built by Spartan engineers using Microsoft 365 Copilot Studio. The focus is on utilising “Agentic AI” to move beyond simple chatbots and create functional agents capable of executing specific workflows. To build these agents, the engineers work closely with internal teams – such as the Germany Network and GOV.UK Content – to gather user stories, define technical requirements, and iterate on prototypes. By translating these specific user requirements into functional AI, the team ensures the agents are tailored to actual business needs. A key deliverable from this initiative is the “Ministerial Visit Assistant.” This bespoke Copilot agent was designed specifically to support ministers and their teams by streamlining complex government engagements in the following ways:
- Planning: It assists in the preparation and organisation of ministerial visits.
- Stakeholder Coordination: It facilitates communication and alignment between the various parties involved in the visit Reporting: It aids in the generation of post-visit reports.
Overall, the development of these bespoke Copilot agents allows the FCDO to streamline diplomatic workflows, improve knowledge access, reduce manual overhead, and automate routine tasks such as document archiving, content tagging, and markdown conversion.
