Sparta Global & HSBC

HSBC partners with Sparta Global to build diverse technology talent pipelines across its UK locations and beyond.

“Sparta Global helped us to reduce reliance on the costly contractor market. We now have Spartans who lead weekly working groups, produce governance documentation, support audit engagement, and ensure alignment with programme standards. The partnership is incredibly valuable.”

HSBC

HSBC is one of the world’s largest international banks, serving more than 40 million customers across 60+ countries and territories. Backed by a strong commitment to innovation and investment in cutting-edge technology, HSBC approached Sparta Global with the strategic aim of building a more sustainable and diverse talent pipeline to support long-term business growth. Faced with increasing pressure to reduce reliance on the high-cost contractor market, HSBC recognised the need for a steady supply of early careers talent that could be trained and developed in alignment with their internal teams and technologies. A key part of this goal was also centred on supporting local talent in regional hubs such as Sheffield, Birmingham, and Edinburgh – enabling HSBC to strengthen community engagement, contribute to local economies, and fill roles more effectively across their UK locations.

A Flexible, Tailored Solution Built Around HSBC’s Needs:

As a strategic partner of HSBC, Sparta Global designed and implemented a flexible, commercially competitive resource model tailored to its needs – developing bespoke recruitment strategies to attract diverse early careers talent in hard-to-hire regions, and delivering custom training programmes aligned to HSBC’s own environment and technology stack. Sparta Global’s people integrated seamlessly into HSBC teams, supported by ongoing pastoral care and quarterly service reviews to ensure consistent development and alignment with evolving business needs. Over the past 12 months, more than 40 Spartans have been placed into HSBC teams, with 80% coming from under-represented backgrounds – and every £1 invested delivering £1.88 in social value to the UK economy. With HSBC continuing to re-engage Sparta Global’s services and the partnership going from strength to strength, the collaboration shows no signs of slowing down.
