Mike Weston joins Sparta Global to lead AI Faculty expansion
Sparta Global is delighted to welcome Mike Weston as Head of AI Faculty, bringing over 30 years of digital and AI expertise to lead the evolution of the organisation’s award-winning AI & Tech Institute.
August 2026 – Sparta Global is delighted to announce that Mike Weston has joined as Head of AI Faculty, leading the development and evolution of the organisation’s AI learning portfolio within the award-winning AI & Tech Institute.
With over 30 years of experience in digital technology and artificial intelligence, Mike brings a wealth of expertise in translating complex AI concepts into practical, organisational capability. His appointment marks a significant milestone as Sparta Global accelerates its position as a world-leading provider of AI, Tech, & Education services.
A Proven Track Record in AI and Digital Transformation
Mike’s career spans founding Digital Oxygen in 2003, pioneering online video solutions and scaling Profusion, a leading data science consultancy as CEO, serving major clients including HSBC, Carphone Warehouse, and Kingfisher. Most recently, he served as AI domain lead at Multiverse, overseeing AI and Data programmes, while co-authoring the executive Digital Transformation Lead master’s programme developed through OpenClassrooms using Stanford Online curricula (2019–2023).
Beyond his corporate work, Mike has established himself as a recognised thought leader, serving as a technology commentator on BBC World News for five years and speaking at leading organisations including Vodafone, Three, ITN, and John Lewis Partnership.
A Philosophy That Drives Real Impact
At the heart of Mike’s approach is a deceptively simple but profound insight: “AI amplifies whatever organisational capability it finds. Strong management gets stronger, weak process gets exposed faster.”
This principle has shaped how he designs programmes and structures learning outcomes. Rather than focusing purely on technical tools, Mike emphasises judgment, context, and workplace practices ensuring that graduates can perform effectively and immediately in real-world client roles.
Throughout his career, Mike has developed two proprietary frameworks that reflect this pragmatic, impact-driven philosophy:
- REIMAGINE – identifying six organisational conditions necessary for AI success
- Operational Drag Diagnostic – measuring and addressing organisational friction that limits capability
These frameworks have been instrumental in helping clients unlock AI capability and avoid the common pitfalls that derail digital transformation initiatives.

Mike’s 30+ years navigating digital transformation, combined with his proven ability to translate complex AI concepts into real-world impact, makes him the perfect leader to help our clients and graduates excel in the most demanding technology environments. We’re delighted to have him onboard.”
What’s Next for Mike and Sparta Global: The AI Amplification Content Series
Mike’s arrival heralds an exciting new chapter for Sparta Global’s AI & Tech Institute. In the coming weeks, we’ll be launching the AI Amplification content series a collection of thought leadership pieces exploring how organisations can unlock AI capability, avoid common implementation pitfalls, and build sustainable AI leadership.
The series will feature insights from Mike and the broader Sparta Global AI Faculty team, delivered through articles, webinars, and resources designed to help organisations navigate the complexity of AI adoption.
“I’ve spent the past 30 years watching organisations sign off training that never changed how the work got done. I’ve joined Sparta Global because here it has to. That’s what genuinely excites me about this role.
Most AI training is marked on completion. At Sparta we measure it by whether the client wants to keep the person. It’s a harder test, and one that matters to the client and to the individual. That’s what our work will be judged on. There’s no hiding behind certificates or course completions – we either build people who can perform from day one, or we haven’t done our job. That philosophy, combined with Sparta Global’s commitment to social mobility and unlocking potential from the widest talent pool, is exactly where I want to invest my energy. This is the kind of impact-driven work that matters.”![]()
