December Spartan of the month: Alongkorn Praputto22/01/2021
Despite studying a Biomedical Science degree, Alongkorn “Gop” Praputto had always had an interest in IT and working in technology. Keen to explore career opportunities in tech – but aware of the need to improve his knowledge and understanding of the sector – Gop joined our BA programme in November 2018. Now in a BA role with one of our clients in the sports industry, Gop has used his training knowledge and passion for sport to secure his position as an important member of the technology performance team.
Congratulations for being named Spartan of the Month for December!
It feels great to be recognised for the work I’m doing on client assignment and it’s validation that I’m moving in the right direction for my personal development and career!
Can you tell us a bit more about how your journey with Sparta Global began?
I studied Biomedical Science at the University of Greenwich but had always had an interest in IT. However, before I joined the industry, I felt I needed to understand it better. Sparta Global presented the opportunity to develop my skills and land a position quickly so I could further improve my knowledge.
I joined Sparta Global’s London Academy and took up my place on the Business Analysis course in November 2018. In January 2019 I graduated and began my new career!
How did you find your training at the Academy?
My Academy experience was very enjoyable and the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds allowed me to understand the different perspectives in both professional and social environments. I improved my communication, teamwork and leadership skills with the support of my colleagues in the academy.
How did your training prepare you for work?
Sparta Global’s training gave me the foundation for a successful work career by understanding my role and core responsibilities as a BA. I’m grateful to have been able to prove how valuable my training was through my current client assignment.
You are currently working as a BA in the technology performance team of a major sports organisation. Can you tell us a little more about your day-to-day role?
My day to day can be a little frantic! However, my core responsibilities are gathering requirements at a project level for products on the team’s roadmap and building BRD. I would pick up any issues or requests that would come in from the wider technical department (medical, team ops etc.) and liaise with relevant stakeholders and developers. Some other responsibility includes CRM development, intranet support and low-fi UX/UI creation outside of my role.
How have you found working in technology?
I have loved working in tech because it was always an interest of mine. I also get to work in an area (sport) that is a huge hobby of mine! Though it was rather challenging at first to understand the concept of software design and architecture in the sports industry, it was a challenge I relished and I am still excited to learn more.
Would you recommend Sparta to other graduates and if so – why?
I would recommend Sparta Global to graduates who are looking for a route into the IT industry – particularly if they don’t have prior experience and/or have completed a degree in a different field. The Academy is a great experience and the support I’ve received from Sparta Global in my roles has been greatly appreciated.
