January Spartan of the Month: Reagan Prince

After studying a Master’s in Mathematics at the University of Bristol, Reagan joined Sparta Global to find his dream role in Data Analytics. Part of our inaugural Data course, Reagan has excelled as a Data Analyst in his role with a leading travel corporation. Credited by his managers for providing outstanding performance onsite, proactivity with testing, fixing bugs, and working with new technologies, we sat down with Reagan to find out more about his Sparta experience…

Congratulations for being named Spartan of the Month for January!

Thank you! It was a happy surprise to be considered and I very much appreciate that I was thought of.

How did you first come across Sparta Global?

I happened across Sparta Global on an online job board when I was looking for a Data Analyst graduate opportunity.

…And what made you decide Sparta Global was the right path for you?

I chose to join Sparta Global because I knew training with a company that has a brilliant understanding of the tech industry - and great connections to large blue-chip companies - would be the best way to transition into the industry.

Tell us a little more about your training at Sparta Global?

I was part of the very first Data course at Sparta Global, joining in February 2019 and graduating two months later. I even had the chance to train at both of Sparta Global’s London Academies – first in Richmond and then in the new London Academy when it combined with the Head Office at London Wall.

I really enjoyed my training! While it was quite fast-paced, I felt like I was learning something incredibly useful each week and I am continuing to use these lessons in my current role.

Can you tell us a little more about how Sparta Global’s training helped prepare you for work?

Sparta Global’s intensive training prepared me for the fast-paced, changing nature of the tech industry, where I am constantly having to learn how to use new tools and methods.

You’re now working with one of our clients, a large travel corporation in central London. What does an average working day look like?

I am a Data Analyst in my current role and work on various projects. Currently I am building and writing code (in Python) to extract data from different sources, transform the data for different reports and load data into AWS.

As it’s your first role in technology, how have you found your experience?

I feel very fortunate to have found a role where I am working with my favourite programming language. I found Python incredibly interesting during training and now I am working with it every day!

On a general note, working in technology is also incredibly enjoyable. I get to solve problems on a day-to-day basis, and I can see the applications and dashboards I make working and providing tangible value to the business.

Would you recommend Sparta Global to other graduates?

Yes! The skills you gain - both technical and soft – teamed with the connections Sparta Global has with large technology companies, makes it a great way to kickstart your career.
