Sparta Global wins at Women in IT Excellence Awards!

Sparta Global’s Diversity and Inclusion Lead, Gaia Caruso, has been named Role Model of the Year (Tech - SME) at the 2019 Women in IT Excellence Awards!

The Women in IT Excellence Awards were started three years ago to celebrate and promote the fantastic female talent in the technology industry and to inspire the female IT leaders of tomorrow.

Created and hosted by IT publication Computing, the quality of entries this year was described as “off the scale”, with winners in each category extremely difficult for the panel of judges to select.

Despite the level of competition, our Diversity and Inclusion Lead was able to scoop a top prize. Awarded Role Model of the Year, the commendation reflects Gaia’s exceptional work inspiring graduates during her time on the Sparta Global Universities Engagement Team, supporting Spartans from all backgrounds through our Academy training and now leading our D&I function to help clients develop a broader understanding of the benefits of diversity to their organisation.

David Rai, Sparta Global CEO, says; "Gaia is incredibly passionate about growing Sparta Global's diversity and inclusion agenda. While building a tech workforce truly reflective of society has always been a focus for Sparta Global, Gaia's knowledge, dedication and drive to represent those who are so often underrepresented in our industry, has pushed our D&I function to new heights."

"I was thrilled to announce Gaia as our Diversity and Inclusion Lead in October of this year and was incredibly proud to see her hard work recognised at the Women in IT Excellence Awards."

On accepting the award, Gaia says; "“I am incredibly pleased to have won. It was an honour to be included alongside so many influential female professionals and I am thrilled that the work Sparta Global is doing in terms of diversity and inclusion has been recognised in industry on such a large and impressive scale.”

As a provider of both employment and education, Sparta Global is committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive learning environment where every graduate is given the opportunity to be a future leader in technology. Our Academies are helping to shape a tech workforce representative of the UK today, populated by people from different walks of life, with different ideas, strengths and weaknesses.

“This is a fantastic moment for us. This year alone, our company has grown immensely. We have moved into new headquarters, expanded our Academy model, invested in a dedicated D&I function and worked with our clients to foster equality in the digital sector. We believe that D&I is a business imperative and I look forward to seeing what Sparta Global will achieve in this space going forward.”
