Spartans supporting Women in Tech: Guest Talk from Code First: Girls

Share

We recently had a visit from Charlotte Ferreday, program coordinator at Code First: Girls. Charlotte chatted about the challenges the tech industry faces when it comes to building a diverse workforce. With only 17% of the tech and telco industry being female, the industry isn’t getting input on business and product development from a large proportion of the market it sells products to. In other words, diversity is better for business.

Code First: Girls runs technical training courses for women who want to get into the tech industry. As a non-profit organisation, they rely on volunteers to teach their classes. After her guest talk at the academy, 11 Spartans have now signed up to volunteer as trainers at Code First: Girls. We believe in supporting a vibrant and diverse tech and business community and it’s never too soon to start contributing.
