After earning both a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and a Master’s in Software Engineering from the University of West London, Daniel joined Sparta Global to develop his skills in development and testing while launching his career in Tech. Academy training equipped him with strong technical and collaborative skills, preparing him for success as a Software Developer in Test (SDET) at a leading Software Development company. Recently named one of our Spartans of the Month, Daniel is proud to have his hard work, growth, and passion for Tech recognised.
Congratulations, Daniel, on being named one of our Spartans of the Month! How did it feel when you found out?
It feels great to be appreciated! I take a lot of pride in the work I do, so it’s really rewarding to have that recognised.
Let’s start with a bit about your background, what and where did you study, if at all?
I studied Computer Science for my undergraduate degree and Software Engineering for my master’s, both at the University of West London.
That’s impressive stuff. What made you decide to join Sparta Global?
I joined Sparta because they offered a great opportunity to strengthen both my development and testing skills, while also providing a pathway into a number of exciting industries.
And how did you find your training experience at the Sparta Academy?
I really enjoyed my time training. It was great to build relationships with fellow Spartans and learn more about collaboration within a development team. This was especially helpful in refining my approach to discussing technical topics with team members.
You’ve now moved into your client role, can you tell us more about that?
I’m currently a Software Developer in Test (SDET) at very large Software Development company.
That’s fantastic! What does your day-to-day role look like as an SDET?
My main focus involves debugging, testing, and automating tests for features before they’re released. I’ve also had the opportunity to support with the system integration effort, using my knowledge of the product to help ensure the integration process goes smoothly.
How has your experience been so far working there?
It’s been great! Everyone I’ve worked with has been incredibly supportive, which has made a huge difference to my development. I’d say the best way to put it is that I genuinely look forward to heading into the office each morning.
That’s amazing to hear! Have you been able to build connections through Sparta and your client role?
Definitely. I joined with two other Spartans, and I’ve also built strong relationships with several others who were already there too.
Are you enjoying working in the Tech industry overall?
Absolutely. Working in the Tech industry has been a goal of mine for quite some time, and my experience on-site has been exactly what I was looking for.
Do you feel you’ve developed the skills and passion to build a long-term career in Tech?
I believe so. Between university and my personal projects, I developed a strong technical foundation, but I’ve definitely refined and polished those skills through my work on large-scale projects. I’ve also grown to appreciate the importance of the engineering process and how critical the surrounding infrastructure is to delivering successful outcomes.
Looking ahead, what are you most excited about learning next?
I’m looking forward to learning more about the domain and strengthening my understanding of the system end-to-end.
Finally, would you recommend Sparta Global to other graduates?
Without a doubt. Sparta offers a great platform for new graduates to build the skills needed in industry, provides excellent networking opportunities, and opens doors to a range of dynamic industries.
