What and where did you study at university? Or did you not study at university at all?

I studied a Masters in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the University of the West of England.

When did you join Sparta and what course did you study?

I joined Sparta in March 2021 and graduated from the Data Engineering course in June 2021.

How did you decide Sparta Global was the right career move for you?

Prior to joining Sparta, I was undertaking a data engineering course, but the organisation did not offer the classroom structured, trainer-guided course that Sparta provides. I firmly believe Sparta’s structured programme enabled me to grasp and understand the concepts of data engineering and streamline the learning.

How did you find your training at the Academy? How did your training prepare you for work?

The training was challenging and intense, but all the tools and guidance required were provided by my trainer to ensure that I successfully graduated. The training contained both soft and technical skills which translated very well into my current position.

Can you tell us about the connections you have built through Sparta? How have you found the community to be?

Sparta has created a strong ED&I community and are very open to new ideas. My fellow Spartans are supportive, and the community provides guidance and support, even after the training has finished.

What is your current position and with what company?

I am currently working as a Business Analyst for a large public sector organisation.

Tell us a little about your day-to-day role. What do you get stuck into?

Day to day, I deal with many datasets which require extensive analysis and transformations in accordance with stakeholder requirements. I liaise with stakeholders, helping them to understand the benefits of improving data and how this will ultimately be valuable for the customers.

How have you found your first tech role?

It has been challenging but also a good learning opportunity. Supported by the training I received from Sparta; I feel confident laying a strong foundation for my career.

Are you enjoying working in the tech industry and if so – why?

I enjoy working in the tech industry as it is constantly evolving with new ideas and new tools to be explored.

Do you feel you now have the passion and skill to carve a long-serving career in technology?

I am looking forward to a long-lasting career in the technology industry, utilising the skills I currently possess, and learning new technologies moving forward.

What are you looking forward to doing in your new role.

I am looking forward to broadening both my soft and technical skills as well as learning new tools and ways of working to support my progression in the industry.

How did it feel to be named Spartan of the Month?

It was a great way to finish 2022 and has motivated me to start the new year even stronger.

Would you recommend Sparta to other graduates and if so – why?

I would recommend Sparta to anyone wishing to enter the technology industry, regardless of their background, as Sparta is very diverse and inclusive with a strong culture.
